Traeger - Cookies
Baking store-bought cookie dough on a Traeger grill adds a unique, subtle smokey flavor that transforms everyday cookies into something special. Since pellet grills heat differently than conventional ovens, increasing the temperature slightly will help replicate the results you’d get from a regular oven.
Ingredients
Store-Bought Cookie Dough: 1 package (chocolate chip, sugar, or your favorite variety)
Instructions
Preheat the Traeger
Set your Traeger to 400°F.
Allow the grill to preheat with the lid closed for about 10-15 minutes. The increased temperature will help account for the Traeger’s indirect heating style, creating the right environment for cookie baking.
Prepare the Baking Sheet
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
Place the cookie dough portions onto the baking sheet, spacing them as instructed on the package to allow for spreading.
Bake the Cookies
Place the baking sheet on the Traeger grill grates and close the lid.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown around the edges and slightly soft in the center. Keep an eye on them, as baking times can vary slightly depending on the Traeger model and outside temperature.
Cool and Serve
Carefully remove the baking sheet from the Traeger and allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes on the sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Serve warm, or store in an airtight container once completely cooled.
Tips
For Extra Smoky Flavor: Use mild wood pellets like apple or cherry to add a subtle smoky essence to the cookies.
Watch Closely: Traeger grills can sometimes fluctuate in temperature, so check the cookies a few minutes before the recommended bake time to avoid overcooking.
Add a Twist: Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt or add a few extra chocolate chips to the tops of the cookies before baking for a bakery-style finish.
Enjoy your Traeger-baked cookies with a delicious, smokey twist!
